We used to sing that song at primary school. I was searching for the words in Google when I came across this website. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the song.

I just want to ask if you know the title of the songs with the lyrics: Mary Queen of Angels and the stars above the light to shine our way from the darkness of the night Mary you're the one to whom we give our hearts Teach us to pray and to speak our parts You're the queen of the universe you're the shoulder of all creatures of the world You're the woman of all the earth oh loving mother pray for us

Nick, Thanks for including my song, "When He Calls" in this list. That song was written almost 2 years ago to the day. My Aunt Nita, mom's last remaining sister, died 2 years ago Monday. I sang at her funeral, along with our cousin's husband, Troy McManus. Well, 2 weeks after her funeral, Troy passed away. The night he died, I guess the death of my aunt was so fresh that I was overwhelmed with grief and questions. I started playing my guitar and was practicing "Go Rest High On That...

Hi I enjoyed myself at the San Diego Witness conference. I was passed the CD Witness and the song that touched me was Father We Stand. At the conference the booklet didn't have any lyrics in it. Is it possible that you could provide the lyrics for me? Thanks and God Bless

I understand why you would be upset, I know that the theme song plays a big part in the whole conference; but this year, kids didn't like it very much. The audience was more receptive to the other songs and didn't really care for the theme this year, in fact, they even have that question on their survey. It's something along the line of "did you like the theme song this year?". I answered no, I didn't like it as much as All Access or Unchanging, those songs got the 'love for God' feeling...

It's only available on iTunes in Australia (and currently at all the WYD official outlets). However, you can download it, or buy it and the DVD, from the World Youth Day site. http://www.wyd2008.org/ It is indeed a beautiful song - written by Guy with his friend Gary Pinto. Both Guy and Gary have been writing music for their respective churches since their teens. I just checked the WYD site and can't immediately see it. Hmm. It's been available there since July 1 last year. Let me know...

Let the Fire Fall is currently not in iTunes. I believe that you can get it off of "Come Worship the Lord vol 1"--John Michael Talbot with the Brothers and Sisters of Charity--and while this is still in print, you may have to find a copy of it using froogle.com . (It's also off the OOP Steubenville Project III, the Holy Is the Lord volumes, and Lift Up Your Voice, where it debuted). Hope this helps... I have a lovely Divine Mercy song that tells the story of Divine Mercy. This composition was chosen as the theme song for a special devotional Mary Our Mother Foundation CD project involving The National Shrine of the Divine Mercy. To hear this song, log on to my musical's website, The Wonders of His Love, click the poster and go to the AUDIO page, scroll to the bottom, and click "complete" under My Divine Mercy. Hope you like it!

I have a really unique pro life song. It's a conversation between an angel and unborn children. The angel tells the children about God and earth. The children want to see the world, and they want to know about reaching heaven. Hope you like the song! I can still hear in my heart the songs of the May processions from my parish in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn - St. Mark's (circa mid-50s). Just the memory of the fragrant carnation bouquets, each with it's colored ribbons to match our pastel Easter dresses or gowns. The garland of flowers headpiece with those same matching ribbons and silvery glitter. The line up - we looked lovely. We really did - two by two we marched: the pinks, yellows, blues, and in later years - mints and lavenders. The...

I remember seeing something from Zenit.org saying that the lyrics "Saved a wretch like me" are not a reflection of Catholic Teaching on the condition of our souls. Don't remember much more about it. Maybe you could search their archives if you feel so moved. As for the Gender neutral language, If we understand that "man" means all of humanity, there should be no problem leaving it where it is. We have several people in our parish, including the cantor, who insist on the gender neutral even in...

"THIS IS MY BODY," written by Dana, is a favorite pro-life song of many. It was an honor for me to sing on the recording and video with Dana and Mark Girardin, who sang the part of Jesus. The song was written at Fr. Frank Pavone's (Priests for Life) urging. He saw how the words "This Is My Body" were used both by the pro-abortionists regarding power over the body, even to the point of killing another, AND by Jesus Christ, exemplifying perfect sacrifice of the body so that others may live. This...

"I was always a big fan of Taylor's "I Blew Up The Clinic Real Good." Catches the other side of the issue. Glad to hear his name bandied about." This was the song that pretty much undid his career... a lot of people failed to see the satirical bent in this song, as if he was actually promoting it. Or, it was an issue too sensitive, too dark, to make a novelty song about. A shame, really, coz it is a good song... but too many pro-lifers I shared it with, retracted with horror when I shared...

Lyrics to MY ADOPTED SON: A lady called to say, a baby boy was on his way But his mama was so young she couldn't keep him. And the reason why she phoned was to find the child a home. It didn't take us very long to say, "We'll take him." A gift from heaven we had long been praying for. And that's the way that you become our little boy. You're neither flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone But still somehow, you are my own. You did not grow within my womb. The good Lord sent you from above. And I...

My song, MY ADOPTED SON, is so dear to my heart. John and I had two children and had miscarried five when we made a decision to adopt while still trying to have another child naturally. We were told that the wait was well over four years and since we already had a boy and a girl we probably would not be selected for adoption. We did the home study and signed the final papers. During the course of the home study we decided that we could take any child under five years of age and with most...

Woohoo! I was able to play and sing this song last Sunday at St. Francis in Brookhaven, the place where I was inspired to write it! It was an emotional day. Our beloved pastor, Fr. Patrick Noonan, is retiring. There were 2 bishops and many priests and a church full of people there to celebrate with him. The regular musicians (who are anything BUT regular -- great job guys!) played and sang for about half an hour before the service started and then provided the music during the service. (I...

I'm used to singing " And we'll guard each one's digniity and save each one's pride." (In the Choral Praise book) The Gather Comprehensive has it "And we'll guard human's dignity and save human's pride". I'm used to singing that also. In the Battle Hymn Of The Republic that part of the verse says "He is sifting out the human hearts before his judgment seat" (At least in the Choral version of the Gather Comprehenisve) Who knows what's in the congregational version. Ever notice how the hymnals...

NPR covers the Communion Package... OK - so I just heard tonight (11/10/07 @ 6:30ish) on NPR's broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, a bit on the "Steri-host" or "Sani-host", I can't recall which it was as I was washing dishes, but it blew me away! The bit started off with the spread of flu so the "sign of peace" was being passed by in some churches (he speaks in regard to Lutheran or similar churches). And then the move was to go to a more sterile method of handing...

Yes, with a traditional song like that where everybody knows the standard lyrics, you must tell the congregation beforehand if you will be using alternates. As for the men/person issue, I can't believe that whole thing even happened. Granted, I am not female, but if I were, I can't fathom taking offense at the word men pertaining to men and woman. I mean, did these same people have a problem with the word MANkind? Is personkind preferred? Dave Gawron http://www.ServantSong.com (official site...

I agree. As a cantor, it's not my place to change anything, but to lead the congregation in the words set before us in the hymnal. We are working together as a community raising our voices in a song that unites us. The only time I would have veered from the written text--would be if that had been decided by the music director ahead of time, and the congregation informed before we began the song. Nancy <><

Nick- Interesting topic and as a cantor for nearly 25 years, I have found myself on both sides of the coin. While I agree to some extent that when you are leading others in song, you should use the lyrics that everyone has in front of them, but there are times when those lyrics cause more confusion and discourse throughout the congregation than if you simply sing what is familiar. Since ICEL came along, many of the traditional song lyrics have been changed to be "more inclusive"...while...

I was informed by one of the parishoners where I work that the former music director (my predecessor) refused to sing the word "wretch." His rationale was that he didn't feel like a wretch and that a majority of the parishoners weren't wretches either. My first thought was, "How could he possibly know that?" In all seriousness, if you ask one hundred random people to sing the first verse of "Amazing Grace" I would be surprised if one or two used the alternate lyrics. Considering that this...
