Time Watch - Lyrics

MP3 Music Playlist:
1st Verse:

To walk-a-holy-life

Is to do more than talk-while-I'm-holding-the-mic...

So I try and live the best way I can as a man

If I die today I know I've given all and have prayed and learned a lesson

Yearned for a blessing

Then took a turn to give a message...

With this hip hop

I wanna share with you how to feel tip top...

You see coming from hardship sometimes isn't an option

The life and death of a certain carpenter inspired a lot-and...

People expressed and worshiped

But evil can keep you depressed and uncertain...

But once I got to know GOD

My rhymes started to flow in the opposite direction of the black dog...

As my head lays to rest on this glorious day

I'm no longer dead inside and blessings for us all with never go away.

Hook:

A road less traveled

I know this can seem narrow

But if you surrender the bow and arrow

You can see what lies ahead the snow and gravel.

2nd Verse:

Have you ever loved someone more than yourself?

Have you ever wondered about a dove and what it might be like to be born-again

I've sworn with my pen...

Soul and mind

That I won't give up in the coldest of times..

To praise GOD and have love for the people

It's amazing that above that steep-hill...

Is something greater than all we can see

I'm no debater but it's hard not to embrace his glory...

So as I write with my pen words from the soul

I swear not to fight or pretend I don't know...

What is going on all around us all the time

Oceans and mountains are just a part of the divine...

I'm no preacher

I'm no teacher

But I have some words that go a lil deeper.

Time Watch lyrics

Alex: Good job on the lyrics. Any ideas about what sort of musical style you'd like to impart to these lyrics? Are you open to any genre or styling? I see you mention hip-hop, so perhaps that is what you are thinking. I haven't done hip-hop or rap myself. Maybe it's time I give it a go. I'll set up a beat and speak your mind! Let's see what happens. I won't try to emulate anyone. I'll use my own voice and styling.

Thanks

Hi Richard,
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and comment on my lyrics. It would be great to hear what you come up with and please keep in touch.

GOD bless,

Alex.

You are welcome! We'll see what happens.

Alex, I spoke your lyrics,

Alex, I spoke your lyrics, more like a poem than a hip-hop song. I added the MP3 file to your original post.

Just wanted to lay it down to explore the feelings you penned. Maybe someone would like to take my vox track and lay it over a beat. Let's see what happens.

Thankyou

I'm humbled, Thankyou for bringing life to my words. Your voice is very good. Let's see what we can do with an instrumental.

Time Watch music

I had tried a ceramic drum underlayment but it didn't sound so good. I'll think of something else. Glad you like my "reading."

collab?

Hi Richard,
Would you be intrested in putting out a small project together using my lyrics and your voice (in the same spoken word form you did previously)? I played the track for some of my friends and they think it's a fresh approach to a way of using lyrics and reading to glorify GOD. I was think an EP or something similar. Hope you are well and GOD Bless.

- Alex.

Yes.

Yes, Alex. I'd be interested. I have limited time (due to trouble making money) but this is important work, God's work.

I, too, felt that this is a fresh, non-Nashville, non-GIA approach. Might draw some folks it. Kinda related, in a way, to cool poetry readings from decades ago. Kinda theatrical, too. A soliloquy like the one in Carousel.

Check out the Spirit-driven meditation song I just finished with Asiansa09. Gives you an idea of the extra voices in my head! Plus I play guitar "passably" – nothing too fancy.

Next Song?

Below I've attached another track that I thought (when you have time) you could record. It's one in particular I felt gave a strong message. Anyway thank you for agreeing to the collaboration and I too hope it draws some folks in.

GOD Bless.

What's Left Is Beauty
1st Verse:
So we go on in this quest for answers
And hopefully do what's best by removing our spiritual cancer...
I don't know how love can't be the way
As I flow I hope you get to know me as I pray...
GOD's perfect design
Was worth the wait and time...
To be one of his children is more than one can ask for
As we build buildings and have fun that's doing a task and being more...
The way to the light may take time and patience
And we may be in for a fight against the night but it all makes-sense...
These words touch the paper with heart
But the saviour is the real creator of the true art...
The freedom to be who we want to be
From preaching to teaching to basking in his glory
May seem like a task if you don't know the story
But when I asked him about the light I realised darkness was boring
Hook:
GOD knows us better than anyone else
This track is more like a letter and I'm using my heart felt
2nd Verse:
As the road gets more and more of a bumpy-ride
I know the core of it all is nothing-but-nice
So as I must-sing on this mic
Its like I'm hustling for the light...
But truth is I'm aware and I bet you are too
If you feel blue just stare at the world and you may see something new...
I only want to be
What GOD intended from me
I'm not pretending when I say all I want to see is peace...
So as I put the mic down after a track
I look around for a good bite in town praise GOD his got our backs...
The best thing about love is it's free
To rest and know a King is looking over us when we might see a dove it was all meant to be...
So paradise isn't to far away
Beyond the cameras-and-mics is where I wanna lay
And everyday until that day I will continue to pray

Good one

I'll lay it down and try to make your good words resonate.

What's Left Is Beauty – to a beat

Well, not so sure this works. But here goes. I tried half-singing over a slow hip-hop soundbed. I also did a straight narration.

Love It.

As I thought it would be the narraration is spot on and I dig the hip hop style - especially since it's your first attempt. Which do you feel is better? I was thinking we could use both in our project (with the hip hop track being a "remix" or something. Great job! I will get to work on more lyrics.

- Alex.

Either works for me.

I had the same thought. Maybe use both in a project. Thanks for letting me explore like this.

next track(s)

Hi Richard, hope you are well. Just a quick message to ask you if you think the other two songs I have posted are worth recording? (Raw Faith and Blessings). If you want something else fresh let me know and I should have another track written by tomorrow.

GOD Bless.

- Alex.

More tracks to narrate and/or hiphopify

Alex, I do plan to run those other two lyrics you wrote. Gimme a couple days. Fun stuff. Hopefully will resonate with some.

Richard Schletty | Schletty Design and Music | www.schletty.com

Cool.

Hi Richard,
Sounds good. It's quite a bit of fun and I think we are getting some pretty good results.

- Alex.

Please post What's Left Is Beauty in your blog

Alex, please post "What's Left Is Beauty" as a separate blog post (as opposed to being buried in comments here). Then people can listen with the MP3 player. Then I'd like to direct a friend to your new blog post. Thanks.

Richard Schletty | Schletty Design and Music | www.schletty.com

No Worries

Hi Richard,
I will do that today. Also feel free to share our tracks where ever you would like to. Perhaps on your website?

- Alex.

Done.

Hi Richard,
I created a seperate blog post for "What's Left Is Beauty" and also added the remix to it and credited you as the performer.

- Alex

Other Lyrics

If you want to use the other two tracks I upload aswell please do. I am in the process of writing some more material.

GOD Bless.

Alex.

Narrating is easy...

Adding a beat and music will be more challenging because I have not done Rap or Hip-Hop in the past. Maybe we can create a new style: Soft-Rap, Soul-Rap or God-Hop.

Richard Schletty | Schletty Design and Music | www.schletty.com

Sounds Good

I think what you did with "Time Watch" was extremely effective and if it proves to be a bit difficult to add beats or music we can always keep that style. But I do like the idea of creating a new style.

- Alex.

Thanks for the feedback, Alex

Check out my "narrative" style of singing in this project:

www.hungryforheaven.com

Especially:

1st Movement (starting at 2:35)
10th Movement
11th Movement

4th Movement has some good beats.

So, you see that your words could be made quite epic!

Richard Schletty | Schletty Design and Music | www.schletty.com

Very nice.

Extremely well done! I have been wanting to put my work out there in glory of GOD and I think with this Collab we can reach even potentially non-belivers and for me if it makes one person think about GOD who didn't used to then it's worth it.

Potholes and poetic musings

Alex, I'll be back at it with you in a few days. I hit a pothole here with work and income.
