Raw Faith - Lyrics

MP3 Music Playlist:
1st Verse:
I'm been experiencing raw faith since my twenties
But made mistakes like I was born with hate but that would go eventually...
People who know me well still don't know me like GOD
Evil tried to hone in on me like presenting hell but really I saw through the fog....
So as I write this verse confessing my imperfection
I keep the light so it won't hurt anyone as I'm addressing my direction
Peep this even at night when you may need some suggestions and a message...
But I'm only a man
And you'll never be lonely with a plan...
We all should use our gifts while we exist
Me - I've made a song list but don't intend to make hits...
This is my second chance to make good rhymes
This is a blessing and I have plans to take my time...
To allow my soul to show you the whole me
And as I enter a church It's never cold or lonely
For what it's worth I'm thinking of you as I hold my Rosary.

HOOK:
I've been through a life filled with pain
But I've seen the light and don't take the lords name in vain
This time I don't look at it as a way to get fame
I'm just doing what I love with who I love as my soul maintains.

2nd Verse:
As raw as my faith is
I am coming forward to the lord in different stages...
First I felt ashamed for my sinning
Second thing it was hard cos I was in pain but winning...
Not in the sense of materialism or money
But in a field-of-vision where I saw the truth life was no longer that funny
So I make an oath not to rap for money...
The proceedings of my hip hop skills
Will go to the GOD and people that need to be healed...
Because when I think of it I couldn't do any of this without him - including life
So as I drink red wine and look in the eyes of my future wife
I know he is watching listening and knows that I'm doing alright...
But faith is strong
And with grace it's hard to do wrong
I will pace out my mixtape starting with this song
And will never discriminate against people I'm just here to get along.

Welcome to TCS

Nice to see you come on board here, Alexander John. I hope you get some feedback on your lyrics. Any idea about the style/genre of song you envision? I'll try to give you some suggestions. Do you sing and/or play an instrument? If not, no problem. The Lord provides.

Laid it down on Raw Faith

I added my audio file to your original post, Alex. Hope it's OK.

As always - great stuff.

Very nice work Richard. You are really bringing my lyrics to life! How many tracks do you think we should do in total for this project?

Number of tracks in EP

Not sure about the number of tracks. Maybe 5. I am thinking about taking your best phrases and doing a Folk-Pop song with traditional structure and styling.

You are the one telling your story. Be careful of too much repetition of certain phrases. Each song should tell a specific story about your journey.

I could offer suggestions for tightening up lyrics and such, but then it wouldn't be so much you. I am normally quite formulaic, following songwriting prescriptions such as even line lengths and 4 lines per verse and 4 lines per chorus. But we are just "letting it flow" – so anything goes. Maybe that will resonate with people precisely because we break the rules in a way that is quite unlike the safe formulas the Music Monolith spoonfeeds us on the airwaves.

I am just trying to be your mouthpiece, for the good of listeners who are inclined to take Jesus to heart.

Watch out, I make get even crazier. I've been there before with collaborations. Like this one: Dominus Proboscis – macjams.com/song/25676

His large nose
senses no mystical realm,
no god,
no hope,
no aroma of love.

With dulled senses
he stumbles
'cross small divides,
never seizing the day,
never reaching for stars...

Folk Song

Sounds like an interesting idea doing a folk pop song with some of my lines. Looking forward to hearing it.

Your voice? Your instrument?

Alex, have you recorded your voice narrating, rapping or singing? Do you play an instrument?

When I Was Younger

Hi Richard,
When I was younger I used to play the drum a bit but I wasn't very good. Then I rapped for a few years for fun but didnt realy record anything that I was completly happy with. However I am planning to write and rap/record a full Catholic hip hop studio album.

Good to know

Good to know a bit about your music experience. Really good to know about your studio and album plans. May that all happen in a way that gives glory to God. – Richard

Track list ect.

Hi Richard,
I arranged the songs in this order that we did:
1. Raw Faith
2. Blessings
3. Time Watch
4. What's Left Is Beauty
5. Blessing - Remix (your favourite one).

I think that is a good enough EP and I listened to them in that order and I think it works out a nice little project. Would you mind if I shared them with the church (for free distribution) and credit your name as the voice? Also if you would like to submit them to wherever you like please feel free to. God Bless. Alex.

EP lineup

Yor EP lineup looks good. Please publish as free offerings. Thanks for letting me share your good introspection with others. And best of luck with your hip-hop studio!
