You Purify Us

Jesus tells us in many ways that we must remain in him and persevere till the end.
Help us remain in you and persevere
With patient endurance and good cheer
Till you call us home to live with our Father
And life with you forever
You purify us and prune us back
You know what we need and what we lack
To sacrificial love you call us to
In these dark times to follow you
We are not alone in our distress;
You lord are here to help us.
O Lord you are our compassionate Father
Slow to anger and always merciful
REFRAIN
we praise you, Lord, with all our heart; *
And with angels we sing our humble part
we will rejoice in you forever *
With glorious psalms to our father
You call us to solidarity
With all who are suffering and needy
To share our time, talent, and treasure
With joy to a sacrificial measure
REFRAIN
You are the hope of all the oppressed
their stronghold in times of distress.
You know those who trust in you;
You reveal yourself to all who seek you.
Help us to never grow lukewarm
It can grow slowly you sternly warn
Distressful times can wear us down
Help us keep watch and be steadfast

You know us who are oppressed
sick, dying, or depressed
We cry out for your care divine
You respond in your will and time
In this life, we’ll have many troubles
In these times to you we call
And you’ll deliver us from them all
