Love Hurts But Hate Kills

MP3 Music Playlist:
1st Verse:

They say love hurts well hate kills

I've been on this earth long enough to know that pain is real

But it can be healed...

I'm just a guy talking

Who one day said I might try to get my life in working...

Order

I had two options either be saved or continue my spiritual slaughter

So I picked up the pen again and this time out came lyrical water

It's a miracle that it's now in working order...

But I know who's responsible and he is looking down

As I flow no-nonsense I'm sick of being that clown...

I have turned over a new leaf because God provided plenty

As my old tree burned down I didn't grieve just knew the light was the remedy...

We are forever changing day by day

I'm re-arranging my life and I love to pray

So I look forward to time with my wife and I hope she knows I'm here to stay.

Hook:

I've known darkness and light

I've blown a small fortune and put up a big fight

So what I was given by the night

I plan to turn it to compost and turn it to light.

2nd Verse:

My days are made up of love for GOD and people

I've stayed up full of rage in that past but really who needs evil?...

For all the bridges I've burned I plan to make better ones

Forgive me I was hurt but I'm only a man but from now on will never run...

Hope and love

Put down the rope and hug...

Someone you care about and who cares about you

Don't make the wrong move when your staring into nothing when your blue...

I've been through pain

I've seen who came

When I was insane...

Enter Jesus Exit Satan

Gave me reasons to remember patience...

Because they say all good things come to those who wait

Here are my cloths and please eat from my plate

If you want swing by my church and the priest can teach you about my faith.

Voice and ceramic drum rendition

Alex, my soundtrack is attached to your original post. It is a spoken voice and ceramic drum rendition. Enjoy.

Well, your words resonate

Alex, I am just being your mouthpiece. I have no idea what you would sound like telling your story, so I just use my own "voice" and attitude and whimsy and gravitas to lay it down. No formulas, no constraints. Mostly, just letting it flow. I do redo a few phrases here and there until it sounds "right." Nashville or LA won't be able to judge these tracks! Thanks for putting your heart and soul on the line. We both hope it causes at least one person out there to think and feel and love a little deeper. Dig deep, pray deep, then come up smiling with God at your side! No, life isn't any easy formula. We can get kicked around or deprived for no good reason. We can feel victimized. But all you have to do is realize the gifts you do have, and make that a positive song and dance.

Post a compilation EP here?

Alex, glad you think that Hip Hop project might be a good connection. Not sure if the project has a faith component to it. Let me know what you find out.

By the way, you might think about doing a post that has a compilation of all our tracks to date – an EP (extended play playlist).

I just sent links to all our tracks to Tobin Mueller, a friend and a great post-bop/jazz artist. See this article that just came out about his life with music: www.alsothat.com/home/2017/7/16/part-of-his-dna-tobin-mueller

To tell the truth...

I'd like to do more with the soundbeds on your poems. The one where I used orchestral brass was pretty cool. Something to think about.

Collaboration!

Thanks, Alex. I just wish there would be dozens of people collaborating. Maybe there are connections and interactions happening of which I am not aware.
