A New Musical Setting of the Magnificat – A Prayer in Song

MP3 Music Playlist:

Hello everyone,

I’d like to share with you a new musical interpretation of the Magnificat, Mary’s beautiful canticle of praise and trust in God.

Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae5CAvqriTY

This version is a simple and prayerful setting, meant to help listeners enter into the spirit of Mary’s words — her humility, her joy, and her deep faith.

I hope it might be a blessing to someone — whether in personal prayer, group devotion, or simply as a moment of peace.

Any thoughts or impressions are warmly welcome.

Peace in Christ,
Grace Lifing

Send forth Your spirit, O Lord, and renew the face of the earth.

Sequence for Pentecost: Mode I (guitar and voice)

MP3 Music Playlist:

Sequence for Pentecost. Voice and 6-string nylon string guitar performed by Richard Schletty. Text: Sequence for Pentecost, 13th Century; translated by Peter Scagnelli, © 1983. Tune: Mode I; accompaniment by Adrian Engels, © Interkerkelijke Stichting voor het Kerklied.

There are two days on the church calendar (Easter and Pentecost) when the liturgy calls for a "sequence," a special hymn that may be sung or recited before the gospel. The sequence for Pentecost dates from the 12th century. This setting's text is an English translation by Peter Scagnelli. It is #981 in GIA's RitualSong hymnbook and #470 in GIA's Gather Comprehensive, Second Edition.

The song art is the center portion of a massive 50-foot-wide mural I painted for Holy Spirit Parish a few years ago. Details here: Grasped by the Holy Spirit mural

Sequence for Pentecost

Holy Spirit, Lord Divine,
Come, from heights of heav’n and shine.
Come with blessed radiance bright!

Come, O Father of the poor,
Come, whose treasured gifts endure.
Come, our heart’s unfailing light!

Of consolers, wisest, best,
And our souls’ most welcome guest,
Sweet refreshment, sweet repose.

In our labor rest most sweet,
Pleasant coolness in the heat,
Consolation in our woes.

Light most blessed, shine with grace
In our heart’s most secret place,
Fill your faithful through and through!

Left without your presence here,
Life itself would disappear,
Nothing thrives apart from you!

Cleanse our soiled hearts of sin,
Arid souls refresh within,
Wounded lives to health restore!

Bend the stubborn heart and will,
Melt the frozen, warm the chill,
Guide the wayward home once more!

On the faithful who are true
And profess their faith in you,
In your sev’n-fold gift descend!

Give us virtue’s sure reward,
Give us your salvation, Lord,
Give us joys that never end!

Recite a rosary upon Our Lady of Fatima

Pray a rosary for each person to Our Lady of Fatima.

I realize the tremendous treasures and resources from Our Lady of Fatima, as her request to recite the rosary for her to obtain peace on earth.
There are so many people on the Top Catholic Songs website, and I just feel that if we can pray a rosary for each person on here, upon Our Lady of Fatima.  I am certain there will be a lot of blessings that we will obtain from Our Lady of Fatima.

Responsorial Psalm 46(47):2-3,6-9 for the Ascension of the Lord

God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast.

All peoples, clap your hands,

cry to God with shouts of joy!

For the Lord, the Most High, we must fear,

great king over all the earth.

Hymn of the Month - June: O Sacred Heart, O Love Divine

This beautiful hymn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a favorite of mine. I sang this hymn with St. Mary’s Choir in Akron, Ohio. Recently, I heard Pope Leo XIV prayer to the Sacred Heart and he spoke in English to the pilgrims who had gathered at the Vatican, and I thought what a great opportunity to share this Sacred Heart hymn with everyone again.

I have not had a lot of time to do hymn research and have something prepared for the month of June as I am working on building four benches for a Mary garden at St. Mary’s.

The hymn was written and composed by a Catholic priest nearly one hundred and forty years ago. If you are looking for a hymn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, then here is a devotional and prayerful hymn that I think you will just love. Please take a few moments to read about one of my favorite hymns.

Free Pentecost hymn with polyphony by Victoria, with practice video and audio files

Stunning Hymn With 3-Voice Polypony You Will Want To Sing For Pentecost
published 11 May 2015 by Jeff Ostrowski

OVER THE YEARS, I have learned it's better to do something simple really well than to attempt something hard, only to crash & burn. Pope Pius XII said something similar in 1958: “In general it is better to do something well on a small scale than to attempt something elaborate without sufficient resources to do it properly.”

Here's a piece you might want to do for Pentecost:

To the melody of ST DELIO ("Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise") [11.11.11.11]

New praises be given to Christ newly crowned
Who back to His heaven a new way hath found
God's blessedness sharing before us
He goes What mansions preparing, what endless repose!

His glory still praising on thrice holy ground
Th'apostles stood gazing his Mother around
With hearts that beat faster, with eyes full of love
They watched while their Master ascended above.

"No star can disclose Him," the bright angels said;
"Eternity knows Him, your conquering Head...

Eucharistic Adoration

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

CHORUS
In a quiet moment
The candlelight still lit up beside the tabernacle
Whereas the presence of Christ is in the chapel.

Step into the church
Into the quiet space
Whereas the chapel of the Eucharistic Adoration places
And the angels guard the Eucharist
Kneel on my knees as I begin to pray,
Making the cross, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

VERSE - In the form of storytelling
With so many random thoughts, I search for words to express my prayer to God.
Dear God, today I come to you with a heartfelt and humble prayer, looking up to you in the Eucharistic Adoration.
