A collaboration with Jack Miller, this is my baseline acoustic rendition which I sent to Jack. He will provide further input on lyrics, and will contribute instrumental additions and perhaps vocal harmony. We'll see how the song shapes up!
Shallow Flow
Jimmy has shiny new wheels
Wants to feel what everyone feels
Keeps all his stuff real tidy
Trouble is he has a mighty
Shallow flow
Such a shallow flow
There's a river deep
That he ought to know
He goes around from bar to café
Season tickets, trips to L.A.
He's very good at telling his story
But he can't talk of heaven's glory
Shallow flow
Such a shallow flow
There's a river deep
That he ought to know
[instrumental break]
He's all wrapped up in rigamarole
He couldn't pray to save his soul
Never had a day of rest
Didn't know that he was so blessed
'Til a saving grace
Filled his shallow flow
Shame and guilt erased
Such an awesome thrill
When the heart is bathed
In Mercy's cleansing Will
No more shallow flow
No more shallow flow
No more shallow flow

My inspiration for writing this
Came from learning the old spiritual "Deep River."

Thanks for posting
I can hear lots of layers of voices and instruments building up this song...until...there isn'tany more shallow flow!
