Hopefully, the Holy Spirit will provide me the grace and means to praise God in vocal music to increase love for Him in our prison ministry. Through three seasons of parish choir, the director has taken us from timid pew singers to a true parish music ministry gradually releasing our potential. This has encouraged me to take private voice lessons in order to train my vocal potential and increase confidence to sing for our inmates at Worcester County Jail and House of Corrections. They appreciate music, which coupled with religious value moves them to metanoia. Although I was baptized Catholic as an infant, I dedicated my music career toward all things secular. I became a Singer/Songwriter and chose an acoustic guitar as my primary instrument. Over fifty years ago, I met folk icon Richie Havens at the first Woodstock Music Festival. Havens received Top Billing, while I was sitting under a tree during a thunderstorm, listening to the music greats doing their thing, while picking a tune or two on my guitar, and trying to figure out where I could possibly fit in. Richie heard me, and after a short conversation, invited me to tour with him. That meeting in the pouring rain led to me spending the next three years as Richie Havens' opening act, and touring with him all over the world. We performed before sold-out venues in France, Italy, Spain, England, Japan, Israel, and the United States. Although I was fortunate enough to become a successful musician, I still felt my life was incomplete. I was missing both my relationship with God, and being single for fifty-three years was no longer appealing. That changed in 1999, when I joined Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, and I met and married Diane. Now my life and music has real focus...on Jesus Christ. I specialize in writing and performing devotional songs, both in concert and recording. I am still a successful musician, and have performed at prestigious events such as Country Thunder, The Troubadour, Tanglewood, and many other venues. But my life is finally complete, and I thank God for everything He's given me every single day! I would very much like to network and become more involved in the Catholic Music Community. I also love the idea of the forums set up by Top Catholic Songs, and feel the benefit obtained by sharing ideas and experiences is invaluable. Its first effort presents music for female voices written and arranged for the teachers of La Conquistadora Academy in Albuquerque, NM.  After working on the music for eight months, they took their efforts to the Los Angeles recording studio of Vox.  There they were joined by five additional singers to record with engineer Michael Harris. I am a chorister (still learning new hymns) in St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Westminster Western Australia. I sing at daily masses and also on the first Sunday of the month. The 3rd April is the Second Sunday of Easter and also the feast of the Divine Mercy. I have been listening to the Family Life Christian stations, but they are not Catholic, and even though I like much of the music, I 'm not a fan of some of their programs. Some Catholic radio stations that I have tried to listen to in the past just talk too much, and I have never heard music on these radio stations written before 1900. I do love John Michael Talbot, Michael Card (NEVER hear them on Family Life) and Chris Tomlin.  Jump to today. Today, I was driving my car, discovered ICatholic radio on a channel I hadn't discovered yet, and heard Kevin Heider's "The Great Flood." I was hooked, the lyrics are incredibly spiritual and "heart-grabbing!" Is that a word? I guess it is now. Thank you for offering Catholic contemporary music that is finally fulfilling my spiritual needs.

I accompany small choirs at English, Spanish and bi-lingual Masses in a rural parish and at a men's prison. I began doing music in the pre-Vatican II era with Latin and chant, but I have concluded that not all old liturgical music was good and not all new liturgical music is bad. I find the suggestions and new sounds from other liturgical musicians are instructive and helpful in finding the right sound for the message of hope and love in the liturgy.
